XThis is a Japanese translation of the GNU Emacs Lisp Reference Manual.
X
XMost of the GNU Emacs text editor is written in the programming
Xlanguage called Emacs Lisp. You can write new code in Emacs Lisp and
Xinstall it as an extension to the editor. However, Emacs Lisp is more
Xthan a mere ``extension language''; it is a full computer programming
Xlanguage in its own right. You can use it as you would any other
Xprogramming language.
X
XBecause Emacs Lisp is designed for use in an editor, it has special
Xfeatures for scanning and parsing text as well as features for handling
Xfiles, buffers, displays, subprocesses, and so on. Emacs Lisp is
Xclosely integrated with the editing facilities; thus, editing commands
Xare functions that can also conveniently be called from Lisp programs,
Xand parameters for customization are ordinary Lisp variables.
X
XThis manual describes Emacs Lisp, presuming considerable familiarity
Xwith the use of Emacs for editing. (See The GNU Emacs Manual for this
Xbasic information.) Generally speaking, the earlier chapters describe
Xfeatures of Emacs Lisp that have counterparts in many programming
Xlanguages, and later chapters describe features that are peculiar to
XEmacs Lisp or relate specifically to editing.
X
XThis is edition 2.5.
